- Nelson’s iconic market on Saturday morning
- superb cafes, pubs and restaurants in Nelson city, such as the iconic Boatshed on the waterfront and The Honest Lawyer at Monaco
- attractive local walks and tracks in the Nelson area, such as the Centre of New Zealand and the Maitai river tracks
- take the Wine-Art Trail to see arts and crafts, and taste great wines
- arts, pottery and craft centres in Nelson and in the countryside around, such as Grape Escape, South Street, McGlashens
- great vineyards and wine tastings at beautiful spots, such as Neudorf, Rimu Grove, Moutere Hills, Waimea Estate, Woollastons, Kahurangi Estate
- the Abel Tasman coastal track from Marahau or Kaiteriteri
- sea kayaking at Abel Tasman National Park or at Cable Bay
- 4 wheel bikes and the Skywire at Happy Valley Adventures on the way to Cable Bay
- Sailing or cruising on the Catamaran, or a fast ride on the Exhilarator from the waterfront wharf
